The Wayans Brothers to Return for ‘Scary Movie 6’

The Wayans brothers, Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory, will reunite to write the script for “Scary Movie 6” after nearly two decades.

The parody film was in April at CinemaCon and the Wayans were announced as confirmed writers on Oct. 30.

“WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!” Marlon captioned an Instagram post. “We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.”

The original “Scary Movie” was released in 2000. Keenen directed it, and Marlon and Shawn wrote and acted in it. According to ABC News, the film grossed over $277 million worldwide.

The comedic collective also worked on the second film in the franchise. However, the Wayans family’s involvement stopped.

“We are thrilled to reunite Scary Movie with the Wayans brothers, the brilliant creators behind the beloved franchise,” Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman said in a statement. “The timing is perfect to bring back the series to the big screen and we’re lucky to have Keenen, Marlon and Shawn’s unique comedic vision bringing it to audiences around the world.”

“Scary Movie 6” is scheduled to hit theaters globally in 2025.
