In a groundbreaking achievement, 18-year-old Khalifa Aminu is transforming how visually impaired individuals navigate the world, reports DailyNews24. This young innovator has designed sensory glasses that help users walk safely and independently, marking a significant advancement in assistive technology.
Aminu, born in Kano, Nigeria, was inspired to create these sensory glasses after observing the daily challenges faced by visually impaired people.
“I grew up in an area where there’s visually impaired people, and I understand what they’re going through. This is why I began the process for a technology-based solution for them,” the young innovator said in a TikTok video.
His invention incorporates advanced sensors that detect obstacles in the wearer’s path, sending vibrations or audio signals to alert them. This system allows users to sense their surroundings and move with greater confidence and autonomy.

Apart from the glasses, the teen has also created a bomb detector, a radio station, and an automatic water spray for farmers. He hopes he will be able to develop drones for an irrigation system and fingerprint or ID door openers.
Aminu’s journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting young innovators who are dedicated to solving real-world problems. His dedication to improving lives through technology exemplifies how innovation can create a more inclusive society.
