In a groundbreaking collaboration, Grammy award-winning artist Lil Jon has partnered with Exact Sciences to remix his iconic hit “Get Low,” aiming to promote colon cancer screenings. The campaign, titled “Get Low #2,” seeks to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and offers the non-invasive Cologuard test as a screening option.
Colon cancer stands as the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, claiming over 50,000 lives annually. Early detection significantly increases survival rates, with about 90% of cases being treatable when identified early. Despite this, millions remain unscreened, particularly among African American communities, who face higher risks of diagnosis and mortality.
Recognizing the power of music to influence behavior, Lil Jon reimagined his early 2000s hit “Get Low” to encourage individuals aged 45 and older to prioritize colon cancer screening. The remix infuses humor and relatability, featuring Lil Jon alongside a singing toilet and the poop emoji, to demystify the screening process and reduce associated stigmas.
Lil Jon emphasized the campaign’s significance, stating, “Some health topics can be uncomfortable to talk about, which can lead to people—especially Black men—not taking their health seriously until it’s too late. I re-worked one of my iconic records ‘Get Low’ to get people 45+ to ‘get low’ in a different way—this time, with an easier way to screen for colon cancer.”

African Americans are 20% more likely to develop colon cancer and 40% more likely to die from it compared to other groups. Factors contributing to these disparities include limited access to healthcare, socioeconomic challenges, and cultural stigmas surrounding medical procedures. By leveraging Lil Jon’s influence, the “Get Low #2” campaign aims to bridge these gaps, encouraging timely screenings and fostering open discussions about colon health within these communities.
The campaign highlights the Cologuard® test, a stool-based, non-invasive screening tool that allows individuals to collect samples privately at home without special preparation. This approach addresses common barriers to traditional screenings, such as preparation discomfort and inconvenience. Adults aged 45 and older at average risk are encouraged to discuss with their healthcare providers whether Cologuard® is suitable for them.
