Shelby Ivey Christie has released ABC Black Fashion Legends, an educational ABC-style book designed for children, with an accompanying flashcard set. These resources highlight Black fashion pioneers like Beverly Johnson, Dapper Dan, and Virgil Abloh.
Christie, known for her impactful social media presence and insightful fashion commentary, aims to create engaging, fun, and educational content that appeals to a wide range of readers, from young children to adults.
The foreword of ABC Black Fashion Legends was written by renowned celebrity stylist and creative director June Ambrose.

The ABC book is the debut project from her recently launched publishing company, Haute Heritage Publishing. Its mission is to make fashion history more inclusive and accessible, particularly focusing on the contributions of Black designers and icons often overlooked in traditional fashion education.

Through this Haute Heritage Publishing hopes to foster a deeper understanding of fashion’s cultural diversity while providing a platform for underrepresented voices in the industry. This venture reflects Christie’s larger mission of diversifying fashion education and making it accessible to those outside traditional fashion hubs like New York City.
Christie is an alum of North Carolina A&T and is currently pursuing an MBA at Central Saint Martins in London. This launch follows her storied career, which spans positions at luxury brands like Vogue and L’Oréal, and her activism in raising awareness about the racial disparities in fashion.
She explores fashion through the critical lenses of race, class, and culture, amplifying the pivotal Black contributions to the fashion landscape.
